Departing Calaglia
Ulzebek (4th visit)

General Store: Life Bottle – 1000; Scrap Meat – 20; Carp – 100; Bone Fragment Armor – 480; Bone Fragment Dress – 480
A week has passed since the epic battle against Balseph. Iron Mask has remembered his name (Alphen) and has been brought back to Ulzebek. The realm of Calaglia is finally free. Zypher recommends you go pay a visit to the Gates of Fire. After the scene, you gain a new Title: Alphen and earn the skill Faster AG Recovery. Also, there’s a skit here: A Humbling Blade (Skit 22/300) At some point while wandering around, you should get a notice for Dahna and Rena (Skit 23/300). If it doesn’t show up, you can catch it at your next campfire Reminiscence [this was the first skit we had to watch via the Reminiscence menu].
SQ Shionne the Fashion Critic. Southwest of the Inn is an NPC (Handsome Nobleman) who has a request which triggers the Sub-Quest Shionne the Fashion Critic. Regardless of Shionne’s response to this chucklehead, you’ll get three options to change this NPC’s look. (We went with “Something that says ‘money’ " for our initial response to him.) Regardless, the quest tells you to “Wait for the young man to pick out some clothes”, so we will be revisiting this Sub-Quest later.
SQ The Hunt For New Arms. Right in front of the Inn is Dyron with another Sub-Quest for you: The Hunt For New Arms. In this case, he wants you to collect three stone fragments off the Golems. More than likely you have already collected enough to complete this request, but you may want to collect a couple more anyway to ensure you can forge the Blacksmith weapons (You only need a total of 2 for crafting). You can find Golem enemies in the Sandidus Ravine (one all the way on the eastern side of the map past the campfire) and Iglia Waste areas (one near a set of potatoes and another near the pillars at the north-west portion). At this level (we were at 11), Golems should be a breeze to hunt. Once you have at least three stone fragments, return to Dyron to complete Sub-Quest 4/70 with a reward of 700 Gald and 170 SP.
The General Store within the Inn building has received a bit of an update with the addition of two armors, one of which you should have picked up within Glanymede Castle. The other is a decent upgrade for Shionne (Bone Fragment Dress). The Blacksmith has not updated, but with the addition of the two Astral Crystal Grains you picked up, you can now craft the Basic Rifle for Shionne (Weapon 2/100) and the Crude Sword for Alphen (Weapon 3/100).
Note: In Sandidus Ravine and Iglia Wastes, there is now a merchant near the campsites who can forge weapons – although only the same as the Blacksmith in Ulzebek. He also sells Apple Gel (500) and Life Bottle (1000)
MQ Signs of Liberation. You can’t Fast Travel at the moment, so head north-east towards the gate leading to Kyrd Garrison for a scene. Afterwards, you learn that Shionne has a map action that allows her to use healing artes on injured people. [Note: You have to do this a number of times to unlock a title for Shionne. In addition, NPCs after this point will give you items for healing them, so it's a worthwhile endeavor. We will point out all the map actions as we come across them.] Continue on to Kyrd Garrison and return to the Trench of Flames by using the elevator. Alphen will mention that the garrison soldiers are gone, leaving only the stray zeugles behind, but nothing you haven’t faced before. (Armadillos, Wolves, and Bees)
As you make your way back along the Trench of Flames, this time you will have to tangle with zeugles as the Crimson Crows are no longer providing a distraction. At the Gates of Fire, you will head east until you trigger a scene, which will ultimately bring you back to Ulzebek.
MQ In Search of Medicine. After the scene, watch Skit 24/300: The Girl from the Outside. Now you are going to be heading back to Mosgul to find Doc. You can fast travel again, as well!
Mosgul (2nd Visit)
Loot: Scrap Meat; Grilled Fish Recipe
Return to Mosgul however you’d like, and then follow the story marker to speak with Doc. He’ll send you back to Kyrd Garrison to search for medicine.
Before leaving, you can explore Mosgul fully. Head along the path leading north-east, and at the first eastern block of huts, go all the way to the wall to find a treasure chest containing a Scrap Meat. You’re the main character in the RPG, so don’t feel bad about stealing these slave’s treasure, you monster. At the far north-east edge of the map, at the eastern edge of the trench, there is another treasure chest, this one containing the Grilled Fish Recipe 4/30.
Return to Kyrd Garrison, and harass the local populace of stray zeugels as you make your way to the area highlighted in blue on your map. (This is roughly north-west of the entrance to the Cave of Solitude) The medicine you are seeking is on the bookshelf in the north-east section of this area. (A star appears as you get close to it) Now Alphen wants to return to Mosgul and show the medicine to Doc.
After getting validation from Doc, it’s time to return to Ulzabek … but Fast Travel has been denied yet again. Okay, fine, trudge your way back to the village and then return to Tilsa at the Crimson Crows HQ. You learn that the stranger came in from the neighboring realm, Cyslodia. In addition, she’s a member of the Silver Swords, the resistance group of that realm. After the scene, Zephyr rejoins the party, again as a guest. Skit 25/300 Ending the Cycle and Skit 26/300 Why We Fight – Zephyr are available to view. Continue forward to reach a new area.
Lacerda Cliffs
Enemies: Armadillo; Lv 8 Bee
Gathering: (Paralaxstone; Iron Chunk; Almadine Mass); Potato
Loot: Saffron; Life Bottle
MQ Departing Calaglia. This is a pretty small map with two mining points and two Potato plants, along with stray zeugels that we’ve faced before.
If you head forward, you can collect Saffron from the cliff edge as Alphen looks out at a castle in the distance. Climb down the vine wall here to locate a chest with Life Bottle x1. Continue along the only other path, gathering materials and pummeling zeugels as you go. At the next split, Rinwell’s owl Hootle loses its mind when it sees another owl being harassed by three Bees. Take them down, and after the following scene, view Skit 27/300 Shionne the Sharpshooter. Continue along to the campsite, and just south of it you’ll find Owl 9/38 perched on a ledge. (This one is different than the one you spotted before with Hootle, because it’s wearing glasses) You earn Frame Glasses for finding this one.
The merchant here at the campsite offers the same wares as the others. Rest if necessary, and then proceed down the stairs into the next map.
Ulvhan Grotto
Enemies: Lv 14 Roper; Lv 14 Deceptive Effigy; Lv 15 Boisterous Roper (Gigant)
Gathering: Mushroom; Salmon
Loot: Apple Gel (3); Panacea Bottle x 3; Orange Gel (2); Chamomile; Onyx Mail
Another fairly linear map, and if you glance at the large map you’ll see a red X marking another Gigant roaming about. We’re going to aim for slaying this Gigant before going on to the next map, especially with Zephyr along for the fight, but if it is too much of a challenge for you here, you can return a bit later when we receive our next PC. Skit 28/300 Zephyr’s Ring automatically triggers as you step forward and then Skit 29/300 Ulvhan Grotto is available immediately afterward.
Head forward to pick up mushrooms and then tangle with your first new zeugle, Ropers. These tentacled creatures spew toxins. Repeated hits with these toxic attacks will eventually lead to your characters becoming poisoned. In the next room are Deceptive Effigies, which are fliers.
The next room will have a scene where Rinwell explains that Cyslodia is much colder than Calaglia, and everyone is mistrustful of everyone due to the local lord’s informants running about. (Cold in temperature and temperament, eh? Eh?) Don’t forget to collect the Salmon from the small pool before heading up the ladder.
There’s a couple more Ropers up here to tangle with as you make your way up the slope. There is an Apple Gel on the western wall after the second set of Ropers. After the third set of Ropers, use the slope on the northern wall to leap across the gap to reach the mining point.
At the intersection, head north to fight some more Effigies and then find another Apple Gel by the water. There are some mushrooms to collect in the north-west corner of this map and then thrash some more Ropers before opening a treasure chest with three Panacea Bottles. These useful items will cure and protect from physical ailments, such as poison. The next room has another ramp that can be used to reach a bag containing Orange Gel.
Save here just in case things go badly up ahead!
At the end of this path, jump down and confront the Lv 15 Boisterous Roper and his two Roper pals. Focus on the smaller Ropers first to stop them from ganging up on Shionne before turning your attention to the Gigant. It has an absurdly large area of attack with its arms and toxic spewing, so remember to dodge and counter-attack when possible. Its core is in the middle of its … forehead? The best way to hit it with Alphen is with mid-air attacks or Strikes. For defeating it (Gigant 2/20), you’ll gain another Astral Flower.
On the north side of the Boisterous Roper's den is a bag with Orange Gel; on the south side is Onyx Mail armor for Alphen [As stated before, if for some reason, you are having trouble beating this Gigant, don’t sweat it too much. In the near future, you will be gaining another party member who will lower the difficulty of this battle dramatically!]
Drop down the next ledge to rejoin the main path. Heading north-west along the path will allow you to find another mining point, and a couple Ropers. Just to the north of the next ladder (following the path south-east), there is a bag containing another Apple Gel. Drop down the ledge to the south into the water and swim across to the southern alcove to fight the Effigy and collect a Chamomile.
Head north-east across the water and fight two more Effigies before heading up the stairs. There are some mushrooms on the right side of the first landing, and then you can head out of the Grotto. Skit 30/300 What Lies Beyond Liberation automatically triggers.
